Tips for staying healthy during National Minority Health Month and beyond

Body
(NAPSI)—With nearly 800,000 Americans having a stroke each year, it remains a leading cause of death and long-term disability. Making matters worse for many Black/African American men is that they are at higher risk for high blood pressure and strokes, according to medical experts. For many health conditions, racial and ethnic minority communities are impacted at disproportionate rates. April is National Minority Health Month, a good time to raise awareness about the importance of improving the health of minority communities and reducing health disparities. During this month, the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) is raising awareness of this important topic and sharing tips to help manage the risk of stroke.

Garlic-bacon cheese log

Body
I just kinda made this one up, but it sure is tasty and goes over well at parties and holiday gatherings. I use something I find at Krogers called Pub Cheese (sharp cheddar variety) but any cheddar cheese spread would work. You can make this into any shape you like such as a cheese ball instead of a log. At Halloween time I make it into a spider using pretzels for legs and pickled onion and black olives for eyes. Serve with whatever crackers you prefer and enjoy this pretty appetizer!

Emergency crews raced to Oklahoma City from across the country, and when the rescue effort finally ended two weeks later the death toll stood at 168 people killed, including 19 young children who were in the building’s day-care center at the time of the blast.
